More for your $.

I'd love to get my hands on Kat Von D's new eyeshadow palette called "Memento Mori", based off the color scheme for vibrant traditional Mexican candy skulls. For $34 at Sephora the palette features seven silky shades and one cream at .05oz. a shadow- while ONE M.A.C. eyeshadow costs $14.50 for a shadow of the same size.

Here's a look I did today using Kat's Beethoven palette, which I adore and use very often (I've been using it for a year and have a good amount left!).

Basic Bling: A Glitter Liner Tutorial

Sauce-up simple makeup singlehandedly with glitter eyeliner! I like this as an anytime look, but keep the rest toned down for daytime use (with nude lips and bronzer).

I strive to use products that give me good value. And those who are makeup saavy know that Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter Liner is one of the most popular choices for glitter liner. But at $18 a pop, who can afford to experiment with color and glitz? I can't. Nyx Cosmetics makes a wonderfully comparable Candy Glitter Liner. For $12 shipped I purchased three of these highly pigmented liners in my choice of color on Ebay. Candy Glitter contains .8oz more than UD's AND has more variety. What's not to love?

Cristina's Makeover

Yesterday I had the pleasure of giving beautiful Cristina two makeup looks- one subdued with the focus on a deep lip color and the second with more dramatic eyes and muted lips. I wanted to display the depth and sultriness of her eyes and add a touch of mystery to the looks. :)

Here's what we ended up with:

Cristina has hooded eyelids and rounded eyes, so the challenge for me was to bring the illusion of more elongated eyes and larger lids by contouring with shadow to a higher spot. I think it brought a lot of light into her face and opened her up significantly.

Avatar

I kinda live under a rock when it comes to pop-culture and movies, but my husband and I finally rented Avatar last week and the following day I dragged my sister over to model my interpretation of the Na'vi. Not bad for a first try, though it was suggested to me that UV glow paint would have made for a more ethereal look.

Created using Mehron Paradise palettes: Tropical and Pastel, purchased from Silly Farm. The entire look took about 15 minutes from start to finish, including braiding the hair! :)

Who I am.

First post! I'm a 21 year old wannabe makeup artist, have been married to my amazing husband for over two years, and together we have a beautiful 16 month old son who is our whole world.

I've been a face painter since a young age and have participated in local youth entrepreneurship events and have painted many years succession at a local large-scale festival. I do private birthday parties and events and also book private face painting sessions.

I'd like to document my progression as a body artist, wherever that might lead me.
